If your iPad isn't charging, don’t panic—there are a few steps you can try before considering a full repair.

1. Check and Clean the Charging Port
Sometimes, dust or debris can block the charging port and prevent proper contact. While you can try to clean it yourself using a soft brush or a toothpick, we don't recommend doing this without experience. Proper cleaning requires the right tools and technique. Incorrect cleaning can damage a working port, which will make the situation worse.
2. Visit a Local Repair Shop for Diagnosis
If cleaning doesn’t help, the next step is to bring your iPad to a trusted local repair shop for a professional diagnosis.
What Will a Repair Shop Usually Do?
A good repair technician will typically:
-
Double-check the port to see if it needs a more thorough (professional) cleaning.
-
Use an amp meter to check if the port is actually delivering power or if it's damaged.
-
Replace the charging port if needed.
-
Note: Most iPad charging ports are soldered to the motherboard, so replacing them requires micro-soldering skills.
-
Not many repair shops offer this service, but YYC Mobile Expert can do it on the spot, often within the same day.
-
-
Check for deeper issues if a new port doesn’t solve the problem.
-
In some cases, the Power Management IC (PMIC) is also damaged. This requires board-level repair.
-
YYC Mobile Expert can handle this as well, usually within 1–2 days.
